Summative Test Construction of Bahasa Indonesia SubjectAbstract
This research was considered necessary to determine the quality of test questions, to reflect the achievement of learning objectives and to observe students’ aptitude. The quality of the questions greatly affects the achievement of learning objectives and the knowledge and skills of students. This study aimed to analyze (1) the level of difficulty of test questions, (2) the cognitive level of the questions, (3) the final result of the measurement, (4) the implications for bahasa Indonesia learning. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of this study indicated (1) about the level of difficulty of the questions, there were too many easy questions. Thus, when the questions will be reused, improvements should be made to reach decent level of difficulty, distinction and distractors; (2) in the cognitive level analysis, there were equivalent number of C1, C2, and C4 questions, but there were no C5 questions. Therefore, attention on the distribution of levels of cognitive ability for each question is required in making questions to ensure that they do not accumulate in HOTS or LOTS categories; (3) in the analysis of the final results of the measurement, improvement is indispensable in constructing questions in the future and in improving students’ ability by developing the learning process carried out by teachers; (4) in terms of bahasa Indonesia learning, there is a demand for policy makers to develop test questions related to their difficulty level, differentiation power, distractors, and cognitive levels if the questions will be reused, for teachers to emphasize the learning process not only on achieving learning objectives, but also on students’ understanding, and for students to comprehend materials studied in each stage of learning process.
