Aims

Artikulasi aims to provide a scholarly forum for the development and dissemination of high-quality research in Indonesian language and literature education and related fields with direct relevance to language learning, literacy, and the use of Indonesian across diverse contexts.

Specifically, Artikulasi aims to:

1. advance knowledge and research in Indonesian language and literature education;
2. strengthen connections between theory, research, and educational practice in language and literature teaching;
3. promote research on literacy, Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA), and applied linguistics relevant to Indonesian language education;
4. provide a scholarly forum for literary studies that contribute to education, learning, literacy, and sociocultural understanding;
5. encourage comparative, cross-cultural, and cross-national research on Indonesian, its teaching and learning, and its development in regional and global contexts; and
6. expand scholarly exchange among researchers, educators, and practitioners at national and international levels.

Scope

Artikulasi welcomes original research articles and high-quality review articles that make scholarly contributions within the following areas:

1. Indonesian Language Education

Indonesian language teaching and learning; language pedagogy; instructional design; curriculum and assessment; teaching material development; educational technology and media; and language teacher competence and professional development.

2. Indonesian Literature Education

Literature teaching and learning; literary appreciation and literacy; literature pedagogy; literature in education; and the development of materials and media for literature education.

3. Literacy Studies

Reading and writing literacy; academic literacy; multiliteracies; digital and multimodal literacy; and literacy practices in schools, higher education, communities, and digital environments.

4. Applied Linguistics in Educational Contexts

Language acquisition; educational psycholinguistics; educational sociolinguistics; pragmatics, semantics, discourse analysis, and other language-related studies that demonstrate a clear contribution to language learning, education, literacy, or language use.

5. Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA)

The teaching and acquisition of Indonesian as an additional or foreign language; BIPA pedagogy; materials development and assessment; intercultural competence; educational technology; and the development and promotion of Indonesian in international contexts.

6. Literature, Culture, and Education

Studies of Indonesian literature, regional literature, children's literature, digital literature, and cultural studies that demonstrate substantive relevance to education, learning, literacy, meaning-making, or the sociocultural contexts of education.

Out of Scope

Manuscripts will normally not be considered for peer review when they:

1. address general educational issues without a substantive connection to language, literature, or literacy;
2. present purely descriptive linguistic analyses without a clear contribution to the journal's focus;
3. provide literary interpretations without adequate theoretical and methodological grounding or without a clear contribution to education, literacy, learning, or sociocultural understanding;
4. focus primarily on foreign languages or literatures without clear comparative, conceptual, or pedagogical relevance to Indonesian language and literature education;
5. merely report classroom activities or instructional product development without adequate research methodology and scholarly contribution; or
6. replicate established studies in different locations, schools, or participant groups without demonstrating meaningful novelty or scholarly contribution.
