Abstract

The representation of female characters on female characters in the novel Rapijali 1: Mencari is conveyed very vividly in the novel. Therefore, the novel Rapijali 1: Mencari deserves not only reading, but also scientific endeavors, especially regarding the characteristics of the female characters. The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the structure of the novel, a description of the representation of female characters in the novel, and a learning design for novel learning in senior high schools. This study used a qualitative approach with content analysis method. The study emphasized the analysis of the representation of the female characters in the novel, and Dick and Carey’s model as a literary learning design in senior high schools. The results obtained from this study are the data of the structure of the novel Rapijali 1: Mencari, and the representation of female characters in the novel which is described in three parts, namely, female appearance, female interest, and female intelligence. The utilization of this research as a literary learning design in senior high schools was intended for Basic Competencies 3.8, 4.8 and 3.9 in senior high school class XII.
