Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Teknik Tari Bambu pada Pembelajaran Berbicara Siswa Kelas VII SMP YAS Bandung

Abstract

This study examined the application of the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques in a speaking course. This research was motivated by low speaking ability of class VII’s students of SMP YAS Bandung as the students talked about idol figures with difficulty in expressing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. The objective of this research is to answer the following questions: 1) how was the speaking ability of class VII’s students of the second semester of SMP YAS Bandung in talking about their idol figures before using the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques?; 2) how was the speaking ability of class VII’s students of the second semester of SMP YAS Bandung in talking about their idol figures after using the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques?; and 3) was there a significant difference in the speaking skill of the second semester’s students of SMP YAS Bandung in telling idol figures between those in the experimental class before and after using the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques and those in the comparison class that does not use the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental. The instruments used in data collection in this study were oral tests, observations, and performance assessments. Samples taken in this study were students of class VII E as the experimental class and those from class VII F as the comparison class. Based on the results of the study, a significant difference was noticed in the speaking ability between the experimental class idol character with the comparison class. The conclusion of this study is the students' speaking ability in telling their idol character in the experimental class increased and there was a significant difference with the comparison class after being treated with the cooperative learning model of bamboo dance techniques.
