Intertekstual Babad Tanah Jawi dalam Novel Bilangan Fu Karya Ayu Utami

Abstract

This study discusses the story of Babad Tanah Jawi in the novel Bilangan Fu by Ayu Utami in intertextuality context. The purpose of this study is to get a deeper meaning to the novel related to its relationship with the intertextual aspects of the Babad Tanah Jawi stories. In this regard, this study is based on intertextual theory. A research problem formulated is how the intertextuality of the Babad Tanah Jawi emerges in the novel Bilangan Fu by Ayu Utami? In general, this study was aimed to explain the intertextuality of the Babad Tanah Jawi in the novel Bilangan Fu by Ayu Utami. A qualitative approach with content analysis method was employed to emphasizes the content. Data was processed by means of descriptive analysis technique. The results of this study indicated that the results of intertextuality of Babad Tanah Jawi story in the novel Bilangan Fu over Babad Tanah Jawi book I and book II explain the stories contained in the Babad Tanah Jawi. Stories incorporated are the story of “Prabu Watugunung in Gilingwesi”; “History of Siung Wanara”; "The Story of Jaka Tarub"; "The Story of Senapati meeting Nyai Rara Kidul"; "The Story of Sultan Agung meeting Nyai Rara Kidul"; and “The story of the King of Mataram attacking the VOC Fort”. The dominant form of transformation from the stories in Babad Tanah Jawi Book I and II, and the novel Bilangan Fu is affirmation. There is only one story transformed as a parody, namely "The King of Mataram attacking the VOC Fort".
